January 2012 Product Release
Elmhurst, IL (January 13, 2012) – Common Goal Systems, a leading developer of web-based products for schools, announces enhancements to SchoolInsight and TeacherEase. SchoolInsight is the company's comprehensive student information system, and TeacherEase is the popular standards-based gradebook.
"As we kick off the new year, we're committed to making our products even better," says Pat Helmers, Vice President of Sales for the company. "The new features added in January fine-tune the program and help with importing student data, graduation requirements, emailing, and more."
The new functionality includes:
Import of more state files (IL, MO Only)
Now it's even faster to get started with SchoolInsight. Populate your student data with files you previously produced for the state. Load data right into SchoolInsight without making modifications.
Improved control over email visibility
Ever have an employee or parent view a log of an inappropriate email and create a problem? We've added finer granularity of email log access options to reduce problems with sharing of email documentation. This helps with embarrassing emails sent by parents, sensitivities with divorced parents, and other similar situations. Now set visibility rules for email communications between instructors and parents at the district or school level.
Enhanced Graduation Requirements control
Set graduation requirements within a set of subject areas. For instance – student is required to take 2 credits in Music and Art.
Improved support for full-year classes
When doing course registration, select only a single semester of a full-year course. This helps counselors more easily handle scheduling of students who've failed only a semester of a full-year course. Click "Show Advanced Options" button to select single semesters only.
Track discipline actions served on any day
Weekend days can now be selected for serving detentions and other disciplinary actions.

Improved Lunch Point of Sale handling of instructors
Now search for instructors while scanning lunch cards just like you already can search for students.
Export report card data by Home/Serving school
Better control data exports; only include home/serving school data. This should help vocational-technical, special education, and alternative schools when reporting data back to the home school.
New daily subtotal option on Daily Deposit Report
Summarize cash flow activities by day over a longer timeframe.
Implemented support for recent MOSIS changes (MO Only)
New Assessment Precode file types (EOC exceptions) now supported. Course Completion Export now includes 7th and 8th graders.
